More than 200,000 people's proposals were considered during the public consultation process for a program aimed at rebuilding and developing the Donetsk region. Denis Pushilin, president of the Donetsk Republic and secretary of the Donetsk regional branch of the United Russia party, said that more than 63,000 proposals and requests had been collected as part of the process.
Pushilin said at the United Russia forum titled “Rebuilding Donbas Together” that the renewed program had been prepared in line with the demands of local residents.
Renewal demands focus on public infrastructure
The proposals included repairing roads, schools and children's day-care centers, improving courtyards, developing public utilities infrastructure and building sports facilities.
The proposals also included establishing regional children's hospitals in Donetsk and Mariupol.
Land allocation for veterans under consideration
An initiative known as “Donbas Is Its Own Land” is also being considered in the region. The proposal calls for land plots to be allocated to special military operation veterans from other regions of Russia, on the condition that they take jobs in the DPR and continue living there.
The relevant committee of the DPR People's Council is reviewing the mechanism for implementing the initiative.
More than 200 schools and day-care centers targeted by 2030
The public program calls for more than 200 schools and children's day-care centers, as well as 560 children's playgrounds, to be renovated by 2030. During the same period, more than 2,800 apartment buildings and 400 public spaces are also expected to be renovated.
The program also includes the construction of 400 apartment buildings over the next four years.
Program to be presented on August 22
Work on the renewed public program began after a decision adopted at the sixth conference of the United Russia party's Donetsk regional branch in June. Party activists were asked to collect public views and compile proposals for rebuilding and developing the region.
The program is scheduled to be presented during the second stage of the United Russia party's 23rd Congress, which will be held on August 22. Pushilin said that the proposals from Donetsk residents should be incorporated into the nationwide agenda for reconstruction and development in Russia.
