Thousands of people took to the streets in Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, demanding the safe return to the country of opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado. The rally was organized by Machado’s Vente Venezuela party.
Participants demanded the immediate announcement of presidential election dates and the release of political prisoners. Mass rallies were also held in other regions of the country.

Earlier, Machado called on citizens to gather in the squares. “Come with your children, bring your families and proudly carry your flag. Believe that this process depends on each of us, because Venezuela will be free,” she said.
