Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova responded to Japan’s request to remove the Victory Monument in Khabarovsk.
Speaking on September 6, Zakharova compared Japan’s request to asking the wind not to blow and the sun not to shine.

Zakharova said the monument represents Russian territory protected by its ancestors, history based on facts and a tangible expression of memory.
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi had earlier asked Russia in a post on her social media account to remove the monument in Khabarovsk.
