U.S. President Trump responded on social media to reports that the U.S. military’s ammunition stocks were insufficient.
Using harsh language against the journalists who raised the claims, Trump argued that the military had enough ammunition for current operations or another war. The U.S. president said they had far more ammunition than needed, including almost unlimited quantities of medium- and high-quality ammunition.
Trump said the production of new ammunition was continuing at an intensive pace for the military and stated that there was no problem with weapons and ammunition stocks.
Trump’s statement also addressed weapons aid during Joe Biden’s presidency. The U.S. president argued that weapons and ammunition worth hundreds of billions of dollars had been sent free of charge, particularly to Ukraine and some NATO countries.
Trump said payment for these shipments would be sought, even if belatedly.
