The Kamchatka Regional Directorate of Russia's Investigative Committee has launched a money laundering investigation into an organized crime group. The committee reported that the suspects attempted to legalize more than 712 million rubles obtained from crime.
According to the investigation authorities, the group of four people collected more than 1 billion rubles through fraud between 2019 and 2025. The funds obtained were transferred to accounts of shell companies and entrepreneurs they controlled.
To conceal the source of the money, over a thousand financial transactions totaling 443 million rubles were carried out. Additionally, three separate commercial agreements worth 269 million rubles were identified.
The Investigative Committee stated that the suspects were aware that the stolen money could not be kept for long in the accounts of shell companies with no real financial or economic activity. Consequently, the committee noted that more than 712 million rubles were laundered.
The committee said one of the group members abused his official position during the crime. The criminal case is being conducted with operational support from the police. Authorities are continuing their efforts to clarify all circumstances of the incident.
