Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev announced that 2,600 tax crimes were detected in the country in 2026, a 13 percent increase compared to the previous period.
Official spokesman of the Russian Interior Ministry, Irina Volk, stated that a meeting of the government's crime prevention commission was held via video conference under the chairmanship of Kolokoltsev.
In a video published on Volk's channel on the "Max" platform, Kolokoltsev said, "This year, 2,600 tax crimes were detected. The increase compared to the previous period is almost 13 percent."
The minister emphasized that tax and duty evasion widens the budget deficit, limits funding for social programs and the defense industry complex, and also hinders the implementation of important infrastructure projects.
Kolokoltsev reported that a tax avoidance scheme by a company in Moscow was uncovered, causing approximately 7 billion rubles in damage to the state. He stated that the damage to the state was compensated in the amount of 70 billion rubles, a significant portion of which came from confiscated assets of the suspects.
Kolokoltsev said, "In this context, the information arrays of Rosreestr, Rosfinmonitoring, and the banking sector need to be used more actively."
The minister also noted that issues of legal nihilism regarding the informal employment of the population and tax responsibility remain unresolved. He pointed out that as a result of targeted efforts last year, 64,000 informally employed individuals in Moscow legalized their incomes, and the accrued taxes and contributions from these people exceeded 9 billion rubles.
