Russia and Indonesia agreed to expand their economic partnership in strategic sectors and develop industrial capacity. Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto discussed these issues on October 17 in Bogor, Indonesia.
The agenda included shipbuilding and the aviation industry, as well as developing business-to-business partnerships, increasing trade and investment, and opportunities for industrial cooperation between the two countries.
Trade between Indonesia and Russia rose 21.6% in 2025 from $3.98 billion the previous year to $4.84 billion. Indonesia's main exports to Russia included palm oil, coffee and cocoa, while fertilizer was one of Russia's leading export items.
Hartarto calls for increased trade and investment
Airlangga Hartarto said Russia and Indonesia had significant potential to strengthen their mutually beneficial economic ties. Hartarto said they would contribute to expanding trade and investment, broadening partnerships between companies and turning cooperation opportunities into concrete steps that would benefit both countries.

Russian companies meet Indonesian partners
Denis Manturov said direct contacts between business representatives were important for developing trade and economic ties. Manturov said Russian companies had held meetings with potential Indonesian partners as part of Trade Expo Indonesia 2026.
Russian companies also participated in a business forum featuring thematic sessions on trade, investment and industrial cooperation. Manturov said the companies held business-to-business meetings with potential Indonesian partners as part of the forum.
Agriculture and supply chains also on the agenda
At the conclusion of the meeting, Russia and Indonesia agreed to continue strengthening cooperation in agriculture, technology, industry and the development of supply chains.
The meeting also addressed the free trade agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union. Russia's Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Aleksey Gruzdev had previously said the agreement could enter into force by the end of the year.
