The Moskabel factory in Moscow has started producing medium-voltage cables for electricity transmission and distribution. Anatoly Garbuzov, a minister in the Moscow government and head of the city’s Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, said on Oct. 19, 2026, that the products could be used in various fields, including transport facilities.
New cable series for energy infrastructure
The new products are resistant to low temperatures and offer high tensile strength. The cables are designed to limit the spread of flames when laid close together, while their halogen-free outer coverings prevent the release of gases that cause corrosion during fires.
These features make the cables suitable for facilities where continuity of electricity supplies and fire safety are important.
26.6-megawatt carrying capacity
Moskabel’s series includes cables with copper and aluminum conductors of different cross-sectional areas. Their shielding and protective components can be modified according to the conditions of use.
Pavel Moryakov, general director of the Moskabelmet Group, said the different designs make it possible to identify solutions suited to the specific needs of projects.

One option was described as a cable operating at 15 kilovolts, with a 500-square-millimeter copper conductor and a 120-square-millimeter copper screen. A three-cable set made from these cables can carry 26.6 megawatts, the company said. This capacity corresponds to the simultaneous consumption of approximately 5,000 apartments, assuming a load of 5.4 kilowatts in each apartment.
Moscow’s industrial production agenda
Moscow is home to 4,735 industrial companies employing 767,000 people. Approximately 150 high-tech companies open in the city each year. In addition to a program covering the interest on investment loans for manufacturers, the city offers more than 20 support mechanisms, including tax benefits and other measures.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin declared October Industrial Month in the city. The program includes more than 25 events for businesses, students, young professionals, city residents and tourists.
The schedule includes the Moscow Investment and Industrial Forum, Career Day, more than 20 tours of high-tech production facilities, a nationwide hackathon and open classes. Moscow will also host the International Forum of Special Economic Zones for the first time, with partners from the BRICS, Eurasian Economic Union and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation countries taking part.
Garbuzov had previously said that Moskabel expanded its product portfolio by approximately 1.5 times over the past year, bringing it to 100,000 product varieties.
