Russian President Vladimir Putin has paved the way for the privatization of approximately 30 percent of the state’s stake in Sheremetyevo Airport. Following the sale, the state will retain strategic control over the airport.
The “golden share” will be preserved, along with veto power over the company’s strategic decisions. The stake cannot be transferred to companies controlled by foreign entities.
The airport’s core operations and modernization investments will continue. Sheremetyevo was Russia’s busiest airport in 2025, serving 43.4 million passengers.
