Russian Defense Ministry downs 635 drones in Ukraine's large overnight drone attack
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that 635 drones were destroyed in a large-scale drone attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Sunday night across a wide area of the country. This was recorded as the second largest drone assault of the year.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' drone attack on Sunday night targeting many regions of Russia was one of the most intense assaults of the year. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that air defense systems detected and destroyed 635 Ukrainian drones.
The regions targeted by the attack included Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Tambov and Tula regions, as well as the Moscow region, the Republic of Crimea and Krasnodar Krai. Additionally, the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea were also targeted by the drones.
The largest drone attack of the year took place on June 26, when 660 drones were shot down in one night. In the second largest assault on July 24, 571 drones were destroyed. With 635 drones shot down on Sunday night, this attack was recorded as the second largest drone assault of the year.
