According to the Vedomosti newspaper, which publishes for the Russian business world, no new foreign brand entered the Russian market in the first five months of 2026. The news, based on a report by the consulting firm CORE.XP, emphasized that this situation is different from those seen in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and in the first half of 2022 after Russia launched a comprehensive operation against Ukraine. Experts stated that foreign companies are currently unwilling to invest in the Russian market, citing the general macroeconomic environment and the decline in consumer demand as reasons. According to data from Russia's official statistics agency Rosstat, while the consumer confidence index continues to decline, there is also a decrease in the number of visitors to shopping centers in the country. After Russia's operation against Ukraine, many foreign companies halted their investments or withdrew from the market. However, while some international firms continue their activities, products of brands that officially withdrew from the market are still accessible through parallel imports.
