66% of organizations operating in the field of machine engineering in Russia reported experiencing a shortage of engineers and technical personnel in 2025. This situation includes engineers working in areas such as automation, mechanization, new technology applications, and production process management. The largest shortage is seen in sectors producing ships, trains, air, and space vehicles; 75% of organizations in this field face personnel shortages. There is also a significant shortage in the production of electrical equipment and general industrial machinery manufacturing. Additionally, a 70% shortage of experts in the field of information and communication technologies (IT) was reported. The demand is increasing for positions such as information security, artificial intelligence, data engineering, and software development. Experts state that this shortage in the machine engineering sector stems from an education system that cannot keep pace with technological advancements. It is emphasized that for the future of the sector, personnel with hybrid skills, possessing both engineering and digital abilities, need to be trained.
