Russia plans to make an official application to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the grounds that the Baltic countries Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have not ended discriminatory practices against Russian speakers. According to the statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these countries are banning the Russian language, rewriting history, and suppressing opponents. The International Court of Justice will accept the application, but the process is expected to take years. Experts state that the chances of success for the complaint are low. Moscow has previously made similar complaints to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities but has not achieved significant results. In recent weeks, the increase in drone violations of the Baltic countries' airspace has heightened tensions in the region. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims that Russia is using electronic warfare to divert Ukrainian drones away from targets inside Russia, while Moscow alleges that Ukraine planned attacks on Russian territory via Latvia. Both claims have been denied by the respective countries.
