President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Türkiye would continue supporting Kosovo in reaching the position it deserves in the international community. Erdoğan delivered the message during his meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti at the Turkish House in New York, on the eve of the opening of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting addressed relations between Türkiye and Kosovo as well as regional and global issues. Erdoğan said Türkiye supports dialogue among the Balkan countries.
Erdoğan said the necessary steps would be taken to raise trade between the two countries to a level in line with their potential, and noted that cooperation in security and the defense industry would be developed.
Erdoğan also invited Kurti to the leaders' summit of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31), which Türkiye will host in November.
Türkiye was also represented at the meeting in New York by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, the President's chief foreign policy and security adviser Akif Çağatay Kılıç, and Çağrı Erhan, deputy chair of the Presidential Foreign Policy and Security Policies Board.
