A decree officially published by the Belarusian government provides for the Belarusian embassy in Finland to end its diplomatic activities on September 1, 2026. The decree was signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin.
Foreign Ministry to oversee closure process
Under the decree, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry was tasked with carrying out the procedures required to close the Belarusian Embassy in the Republic of Finland. The related expenses will be covered by budgetary resources allocated for the diplomatic mission's operations.
The regulation also repeals a January 17, 2011, resolution of the Belarusian Council of Ministers governing the opening of the Belarusian Embassy in Finland.
When will the decree take effect?
Article 3 of the decree will enter into force on September 1, 2026. The other articles will be implemented after the decree is officially published.
