Türkiye’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan Şener Cebeci paid a courtesy visit to Ji Shumin, the People’s Republic of China’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan. The meeting took place at the Chinese Embassy in Ashgabat.
“We thank the Ambassador for his kind hospitality,” the Turkish Embassy in Ashgabat said.

New envoys in Ashgabat
Cebeci, who previously served as the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s deputy director general for Central Asian countries, was appointed ambassador to Ashgabat by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He presented his credentials to Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Aug. 28, 2026, conveying Erdoğan’s greetings.
Ji Shumin presented his credentials in July 2025, when Berdimuhamedov described China as one of Turkmenistan’s most important strategic partners and cited the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline as an example of cooperation.
