The Turkish delegation’s exit was one of the most striking moments of the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held in Baku on Oct. 15. As Israeli President Isaac Herzog began speaking, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his team stood up and left the hall.
Anadolu Agency reported that representatives of more than 10 countries walked out along with the Turkish delegation. International media named Iran, Kuwait, Pakistan and Palestine among them.
Fidan stands in for Erdoğan
Fidan is leading Türkiye’s delegation at the summit in place of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Leaders and representatives of Asian countries, including Russia and the Central Asian states, gathered in Baku.

Speaking at the expanded session, Herzog described Azerbaijan as "a very tolerant country" and said that in today’s world "isolation is an illusion."
Ankara has repeatedly criticized Israel over its actions in Gaza in recent months, and before the summit Fidan was reported to be planning to call for more pressure on the Israeli government.
