Turkey's health tourism sector continues to grow with strong demand from Russia and European countries. Mustafa Arıoğut, Board Member of the Service Exporters' Association and Chairman of the Health Services Committee, announced that sector revenues reached $761.523 million in the first quarter of 2026.
Arıoğut stated that the number of visitors coming to Turkey for treatment in 2025 was 1,398,580, and total revenue in that period reached $3.022 billion. Noting that the positive performance continues this year, Arıoğut announced that 302,487 patients came to Turkey in the January-March period.
Russia among main source countries
With its advanced healthcare infrastructure, Turkey serves patients from around 180 different countries. The countries showing the highest demand in health tourism include Germany, the UK, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Russia, Libya, and the Gulf countries.
While the average per capita health expenditure is around $2,500, this figure can rise to between $10,000 and $50,000 in complex cases such as tumor treatment, heart surgery, robotic surgery, and organ transplantation.
Arıoğut stated that efforts supporting sustainable growth are ongoing and that expectations for the end of the year are positive. He added that Turkey has reached an advanced position in providing high-value healthcare services on a global scale.
