Temporary restrictions imposed at airports in Russia for flight safety reasons are now lasting for shorter periods. Russian Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin attributed the change to coordination among security agencies in a statement on September 6.
Nikitin said the “Kover” plan is activated when a risk to flights emerges. He said joint work by the Federal Air Transport Agency, units affiliated with the Russian Defense Ministry and other specialized security agencies had helped shorten the restrictions.
