Aleksandr Golubev, Head of the Short-Term Weather Forecasts Department at Russia's Hydrometeorological Center, has released the rainfall forecast for Moscow in July. Speaking to RIA Novosti, Golubev said the capital is expected to receive a total of around 85-90 millimeters of precipitation this month.
This figure is slightly above the established climate norms for the region. The official added that average air temperatures during the same period are expected to remain around normal levels.
Golubev also highlighted a significant detail about the rainfall pattern. According to the forecast, a large portion of the precipitation may occur in short, intense bursts. For example, in some areas, as much as 60 to 70 percent of the monthly rainfall norm could fall in just two days.
