Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian hosted Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev in Tehran. The meeting addressed the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries and the swift implementation of signed agreements.
Pezeshkian described the Russian official's visit as a sign of determination to implement the agreements. 'We expect these agreements to move from the negotiation phase to the operational phase as soon as possible,' he said.
Pointing to the vast cooperation potential in areas such as energy, oil, gas, petrochemicals, industry, basic commodity trade, and the development of transit corridors, Pezeshkian stressed that the highest level of political will exists, including from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Therefore, he said, any slowdown in the projects is unacceptable.
The Iranian President noted that there are also significant opportunities within the framework of cooperation among BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Eurasia, and the Caspian littoral states. Stating that expert working groups should be established for each joint project, Pezeshkian said these groups would monitor the projects on a daily basis with the participation of relevant institutions and embassies and remove any obstacles as quickly as possible.
'Iran and Russia are each other's strategic partners and trusted friends,' Pezeshkian said, adding that the implementation of projects must be accelerated in proportion to the existing capacities, political will, and the status of the two countries.
Pezeshkian also thanked the high-level Russian delegation that attended the funeral ceremony of the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. He said the supportive stance of the Russian government and people, as well as President Putin, on international platforms was commendable.
Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev, for his part, expressed his pleasure at meeting with the Iranian President and conveyed Putin's warm greetings. Providing information about his contacts in Tehran, Tsivilev emphasized Moscow's strong will to implement the joint agreements.
Noting that special working groups have been formed for each project, Tsivilev said, 'Our goal is to achieve concrete and practical results from joint cooperation and to show that we are on the right track in developing the strategic relations between Iran and Russia.'
Touching on the positive view of the Russian public and officials towards Iran, the Minister said, 'In Russia, Iran's independent stance and resistance to external pressure are respected. We are proud to have trusted friends like Iran.'
Tsivilev also stated, 'Just as Iran resisted bullying and external pressure, Russia will never bow to power-based policies.'
