Russian President Vladimir Putin said the problems related to the country’s fuel crisis had not yet been fully resolved, but efforts to address them were continuing.
Speaking to program host Pavel Zarubin, Putin said the government needed to keep the fuel crisis under control. Putin said the crisis had caused some disruption for the public and stated that the government was monitoring the situation and had established a special commission on the issue.
Route change for Nord Stream 2
Putin also said that plans for the route of the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline had changed over time. He said the initial plan was for the pipeline to run through Poland.
The Russian president said the Yamal-Europe pipeline, which carries some Russian gas, runs through Polish territory. He said preparations had been made to build the second pipeline along the same route and that construction teams had built the necessary infrastructure.
Putin said a decision was later made to route the second pipeline along the seabed of the Baltic Sea in order to reduce risks. He argued that the decision reduced Poland’s revenue from the transit of Russian hydrocarbons.
