EU envoy to Ukraine says Russian strikes have dented allies’ optimism
EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova said on August 24 that Russia’s responses to Ukraine’s attacks had dampened optimism among Ukraine’s allies. Vladimir Putin said Russia had increased strikes on Ukraine’s defense industry facilities in response to Ukrainian attacks on civilian industrial and logistics facilities.
EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova said on August 24 that Russia’s responses to Ukraine’s attacks had weakened the optimism among Kyiv’s allies.
Maternova said the overall situation had deteriorated compared with previous months following the attacks.
Putin explains the targets and rationale
Russian President Vladimir Putin said strikes on defense industry facilities in Ukraine had been increased. Putin said facilities in Kyiv were also among the targets.
Putin said the attacks were being carried out in response to Ukrainian attacks on civilian industrial and logistics facilities.
