Norway will continue its support for Ukraine in 2027. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced during a visit to Kyiv on Sunday that 85 billion Norwegian kroner ($9.2 billion) in new aid would be provided for the coming year.
Of the 85-billion-kroner package, 70 billion kroner ($7.5 billion) will be allocated to military assistance, while 15 billion kroner ($1.6 billion) will go to civilian support.
Annual support for Kyiv will reach 85 billion kroner for a third time
The 2027 commitment means Norway will provide Ukraine with annual support of 85 billion kroner for the third consecutive year.
Støre said his country would continue to support Ukraine’s defense efforts. The Norwegian prime minister said they had sent a clear message that they would stand by Ukraine in both civilian and military areas.
Støre raises Russia’s attacks
Støre said the Ukrainian people faced the consequences of Russia’s war every day, adding that Russia had intensified its attacks on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure with missiles and drones.
Støre also argued that civilians were being systematically targeted. He said Ukraine was continuing its struggle for freedom, independence and the right to determine its own future, adding that it was important for Norway to continue standing by the Ukrainian people.
Program in Kyiv with Nordic and Baltic countries
The Norwegian prime minister arrived in Kyiv together with the leaders of the Nordic and Baltic countries. During his visit, Støre was scheduled to attend a summit between Ukraine and the Nordic and Baltic countries, take part in events marking Ukraine’s National Flag Day and meet with Ukrainian officials.
