The Russian Foreign Ministry has declared it will provide all necessary support to enhance the Chukotka Autonomous Region's international connections. Deputy Minister Yevgeniy Ivanov welcomed the regional administration's desire to establish new relationships, attract investment, and broaden international cultural and humanitarian contacts.
Ivanov made this statement at a Chukotka promotional event held at a cultural center affiliated with the Russian Foreign Ministry. He noted the region's administration's eagerness to revitalize external ties as remarkable and affirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting this process.
Emphasis on Chukotka's Strategic Location
Ivanov reminded that Chukotka is the easternmost region of both Russia and the Eurasian continent. He highlighted the region's rich natural resources and mentioned that the development of the Trans-Arctic transport corridor could open new opportunities.
The deputy minister also said this corridor has become a symbol of innovative peaceful nuclear energy use. He emphasized that Chukotka holds a special place not only economically but also in terms of tourism.
Tourism and Cultural Contacts Take Center Stage
According to Ivanov, the region attracts attention not only for its natural beauty but also for the hospitality of its local people and cultural richness. He noted that Chukotka's unique character captivates visitors.
Ivanov stated that in 2025, more than 85,000 tourists visited the Chukotka Autonomous Region, a number exceeding the region's own population. He presented this figure as an important indicator of the region's promotion and tourism potential.
At the end of his speech, he invited participants to explore the traditions of the Russian Arctic region, discover new areas for cooperation, and appreciate Chukotka's distinctive identity.
It was also recalled that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously met with Chukotka Autonomous Region Governor Vladislav Kuznetsov, during which accelerating the region's international connections was discussed.
