Vladislav Maslennikov said the unchecked development of unmanned aerial vehicles in the European Union posed risks not only to Russia but also to other countries. In remarks on September 26, Maslennikov said there was insufficient oversight of production in the EU.
According to Maslennikov, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department for European Affairs, the EU’s efforts to learn from Kyiv’s experience in using UAVs were further increasing the risks. Maslennikov said the uncontrolled development of such vehicles could heighten threats to infrastructure.
Moscow argues that NATO and European Union countries have experienced an unprecedented increase in military activities in recent years. Russia says it has no intention of attacking European countries, while arguing that the expansion of military capabilities and continued militarization in Europe are increasing tensions.
Moscow also argues that this approach does not contribute to resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
