New guidelines for Russia's epidemic response plans have been published. The document, prepared by Chief Health Inspector Anna Popova, lists measures to be taken in the event of a surge in flu, acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and COVID-19 cases.
According to the document, if student absenteeism in an educational institution exceeds the 20% threshold due to these illnesses, it is recommended that education and training be suspended in that school. This criterion is part of the recommendations addressed to regional authorities.
The same document also calls for the cancellation of mass cultural and sports events to prevent the spread of the epidemic. These recommendations, prepared by Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing), will be included in the regions' epidemic response plans.
The Chief Health Inspector publishes similar guidelines every year as part of preparations for the epidemiological season. This year's document also calls for these restrictions to be activated in a timely manner.
