The Moscow Regional Directorate of Russia's Interior Ministry carried out an operation targeting illegal activities of foreigners in the capital region. As part of the operation dubbed 'Nelegal-2026', 92 foreigners were held administratively liable for violating immigration laws in the Sergiyevo-Posadsky urban district.
Tatyana Petrova, head of the Information and Public Relations Department, said that during the operation, residences, construction sites, and industrial facilities where foreigners were present were inspected.
Petrova said, "During the operation, 92 migrants from Central and South Asian countries were held administratively liable. Each violator was fined 5,000 rubles and ordered to be deported from Russia through controlled independent departure."
According to Petrova, of the 92 administrative reports drawn up against the foreigners, 77 were for violating immigration registration deadlines and overstaying, 9 for illegal work, and 6 for providing false information in immigration registration.
As part of the operation, administrative proceedings were also initiated against 8 employers and officials for illegally employing foreigners.
Authorities detained a citizen of a neighboring country on suspicion of organizing the illegal stay of four migrants in Russia. A criminal case was opened against the suspect for 'organized illegal immigration'. As part of the same investigation, three local women were also charged with 'fake immigration registration' and 'use of forged documents'.
All suspects were placed under a travel ban and judicial supervision.
