Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized the importance of the aviation meeting chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
The meeting was held at a facility belonging to the Gromov Flight Research Institute (LII). Putin examined the new generation Russian civil aviation aircraft Il-114-300, SJ-100 and MS-21 there.
Speaking to journalists, Peskov said, "As you know, until yesterday evening, Putin dealt with issues of aircraft production in our country, civil aviation matters, and air transportation of citizens of the Russian Federation. The meeting was important."
The meeting was held as part of Russia's efforts to modernize its civil aviation fleet and increase domestic production capacity. The Il-114-300 is described as a regional turboprop aircraft, the SJ-100 as a short-to-medium-range jet, and the MS-21 as a medium-range passenger aircraft.
