Speaking on October 30 at the 13th summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said that Türkiye, under the leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was strengthening its authority on the international stage through political, economic, military and technological achievements. He also praised Ankara’s efforts to establish lasting peace in the Middle East.
On October 29, Erdoğan presented Japarov with the Supreme Order of the Turkic World at an official dinner at the Beştepe Presidential Complex.

Trade turnover rises by 36%
According to Japarov, geopolitical and economic changes require joint action by the Turkic states, and under these conditions the OTS is becoming increasingly important. Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover with the organization’s member states rose by 36% in 2025, reaching $3.3 billion. The president emphasized the importance of connecting the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway to the Middle Corridor through the Caspian Sea.
Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan uses only 15% of its hydropower potential and invited investors to participate in projects such as the Kazarman hydropower plant cascade, which involves a Turkish company.
Issyk-Kul and digital technologies
The Kyrgyz president called for accelerating joint projects to combat climate change and glacier melt, proposing the creation of a dedicated UN-backed fund to protect Lake Issyk-Kul. He also advocated developing artificial intelligence technologies in Turkic languages, drawing on the Kyrgyzstan High Technology Park.
Japarov proposed launching a common tourism brand for the Turkic states and holding an informal OTS summit on August 5–6, 2027, in Kyrgyzstan. He expressed confidence that Türkiye’s chairmanship would give fresh impetus to joint efforts.
Meeting with Erdogan
As part of the summit, Japarov also held talks with Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the presidential complex in Ankara. According to the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidential Administration, the leaders discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional and international agendas.
Erdogan emphasized the need for steps that will unlock the potential of the two countries in trade and investment, and the importance of developing cooperation in the defense industry and energy. According to him, strengthening the solidarity of Turkey and Kyrgyzstan on international platforms, primarily in the UN, will benefit both countries.
