Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking on October 30 at the 13th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara, called on member countries to act more cohesively and jointly defend their interests on the international stage.
Mirziyoyev described the OTS as a platform based on mutual trust and practical action that is becoming an effective global development hub in a region rich in natural resources. He said all participants were “united on this good path” and ready to direct their efforts toward strengthening Turkic solidarity.

Tourism without passports
Recalling that Turkic states received more than 100 million foreign tourists in 2025, Mirziyoyev said it was time to establish a Turkic tourism union. He also proposed concluding a multilateral agreement on citizens’ mutual travel using identification cards and said Uzbekistan was ready to provide scholarships to students from Turkic countries.
One hundred joint projects
The Uzbek president proposed a program of 100 strategic joint investment and industrial projects, supported by the Turkic Investment Fund and international financial institutions. Priorities would include processing rare and strategic metals, producing equipment for green energy and manufacturing high-value-added products.
Mirziyoyev also advocated turning the Middle Corridor and its associated routes into a unified economic system, creating a network of logistics complexes jointly managed by Turkic states and launching an “OTS+” format with third countries at the level of sectoral ministers.
Uzbekistan ready to host next summit
The Uzbek leader supported declaring 2027 the OTS Year of Nature Protection, proposed preparing a Dictionary of Common Turkic Words and wished Türkiye success as chair of the organization. He thanked Azerbaijan for its chairmanship and Secretary-General Kubanychbek Omuraliev for his work, saying that Tashkent supported Mirvohid Azimov’s candidacy for the post.
Mirziyoyev said Uzbekistan was ready to host the next OTS summit next year. On October 29, he held talks with Erdoğan in Ankara, after which the sides signed five documents.
