Indonesian Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita announced in an interview with RIA Novosti and RT that his country needs a reliable energy supply to implement the 'Golden Indonesia 2045' strategy, which aims to make it one of the world's largest economies by 2045.
Kartasasmita stressed that industrialization requires sustainable and reliable energy sources. He also stated that the market's future demand for green products must be considered, making a green energy supply a necessity.
Russia's potential contribution
The minister said energy is one of the key areas where Russia can contribute to Indonesia's long-term development strategy. "Russia can help us achieve this goal," Kartasasmita said.
Noting that Indonesia plans to make the manufacturing industry one of the main pillars of the national economy by 2045, the minister said this means a gradual move away from a model heavily reliant on raw material exports.
Aiming to retain value chain
Kartasasmita explained the goals, saying, "We aim to process natural resources and commodities domestically and keep the added value in Indonesia."
The minister added that Russia, as a friendly country, could play an important role in this process.
Indonesia will participate as a partner country in the international INNOPROM industrial fair to be held in Yekaterinburg in 2026.
