In Russia, the new method for calculating pregnancy and childbirth benefits enabled 15,600 female students enrolled in full-time education to receive the allowance in its first year.
Under the rules changed on September 1, 2025, the benefit is no longer determined based on the average scholarship. The calculation is based on the subsistence minimum set for the working-age population in the student’s region.
The regulation covers students enrolled in full-time programs as well as postgraduate students. Both students paying tuition and those studying under state-funded places are eligible for the payment.
