The future of visa-free travel between Russia and China was discussed at a business breakfast held in Moscow ahead of the 7th Russia-China Entrepreneurs Forum. Boris Titov, co-chair of the Russia-China Friendship, Peace and Development Committee, said the two countries would move beyond visa requirements after 2027.
Speaking ahead of the forum, which is scheduled to open in Moscow on September 10, Titov said visa requirements between Russia and China would become a thing of the past after 2027.
Visa-free regime extended until December 31, 2027
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on July 20 extending Chinese citizens’ visa-free entry to Russia until December 31, 2027. China also extended its visa-free regime for Russian citizens until the end of 2027.
Titov said tourist flows had increased at an unprecedented rate after the visa-free arrangement began, adding that this development was a major factor in improving relations between Russia and China.
