France has launched a diplomatic move by accusing Russia of carrying out cyber attacks against European countries. The Paris administration has decided to summon Russia's ambassador to Paris, Aleksey Meshkov, to the Foreign Ministry over these allegations.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, in a statement to a television channel, alleged that Russia is conducting 'large-scale cyber attack campaigns for sabotage and espionage against dozens of European countries'.
Barrot announced that in response to these activities, Ambassador Meshkov will be invited to the ministry in the coming days. He also stated that sanctions will be imposed on nine individuals and entities said to be linked to the cyber attacks.
European countries, in the fifth year of the Russia-Ukraine war, accuse Moscow of conducting cyber operations across the continent to influence public opinion and electoral processes.
