In Ukraine's capital Kyiv, a former judge caused an incident by firing a gun after being warned for listening to Russian music in his car. According to the Kyiv city prosecutor's office, the incident took place in early May 2026, when the former judge was warned by bystanders for playing loud Russian music in his car near a children's playground.
The prosecutor's office stated that the former judge responded to the warning with profanity, got out of the car, and started an argument. He then pulled out his firearm, cocked it, and pointed it at the others. One witness at the scene tackled the judge to the ground to disarm him, but the judge fired three shots indiscriminately during the struggle.
The prosecutor's office announced that the former judge has been charged with hooliganism involving a firearm and that a detention measure is being considered. If found guilty, the suspect faces up to 7 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
