An Istanbul high criminal court has taken a major step toward the international arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The court ordered a red notice for Netanyahu in the case concerning the Sumud Flotilla aid convoy.

The court also decided to open a public case against Netanyahu and other defendants. The charges in the indictment are severe: 'crimes against humanity,' 'genocide,' 'damage to property,' 'aggravated looting,' 'intentional injury,' 'torture,' 'obstructing the movement of transport vehicles,' 'abduction or detention,' and 'deprivation of liberty.'
The red notice decision will first be conveyed to the Turkish Ministry of Justice and the Interpol-Europol Department, and then to the Interpol General Secretariat. If Interpol approves the decision, Netanyahu will face the risk of arrest and extradition to Turkey if he travels to countries that are part of the red notice system or have extradition treaties with Turkey.
