A group of five tourists went missing during a rafting activity in the Magadan region of Russia's Far East. A search and rescue operation was launched after the group failed to complete their trip on the Igandja and Arman rivers within the scheduled time.
The Magadan Region Emergency Situations Directorate stated that a search and rescue team and a drone (UAV) specialist were dispatched to the area because the registered group did not reach the designated arrival point. The teams began searching along the route the tourists were likely to have taken.
A Mi-8 helicopter from the Khabarovsk Aviation Rescue Center is also on standby to support the ground teams. The helicopter will carry personnel from the Magadan region search and rescue team.
