Ukrainian President Zelenskyy assessed the results of his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at a news conference in New York. Zelenskyy said all sides needed to act without delay to end the Russia-Ukraine war as soon as possible.
Zelenskyy said the leaders needed to meet to end the war and announced that he was ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Proposal for a summit of U.S., Russian and Ukrainian leaders
Zelenskyy said Trump could work to arrange a summit attended by the leaders of the United States, Russia and Ukraine. He said the leaders of the three countries could discuss the war’s most important issues at such a meeting.
Reiterating that he was ready for a three-way meeting, Zelenskyy said he did not believe Putin was ready to end the war.
Condition for halting attacks on the energy sector
Zelenskyy said they had also discussed an energy ceasefire proposal during his meeting with Trump, adding that Ukraine was ready for a ceasefire if Russia refrained from targeting Ukraine’s energy sector.
Zelenskyy said the United States would convey Ukraine’s proposals for an energy ceasefire to Russia and outlined Kyiv’s conditions on the matter.
U.S. license for Patriot missiles
Zelenskyy recalled that Ukraine had previously asked the United States for a license to produce missiles used in Patriot air defense systems. He said work in this area was continuing with relevant U.S. officials.
