Russian Interior Ministry Spokeswoman Irina Volk announced that 7 people have been detained in connection with the murder of a student in Omsk.
On June 21, a report was made to Police Station No. 10 of the Omsk Police Department, stating that a student from a local university had left home and not returned.
After a five-day search, police officers found the missing student's body with signs of violence in an abandoned lot near the Syropyatsky Road.
In a statement on her channel on the Max platform, Irina Volk said, "As a result of comprehensive operational search activities and evaluation of versions, police identified a group of 7 people aged 22-24 from the young man's close circle."
Volk reported that the suspects lured the victim to the abandoned lot for financial gain, tied him up, inflicted multiple stab wounds, and attempted to conceal the body.
According to police findings, the attackers planned the crime in advance, purchasing duct tape, bags, and gloves, and also took measures to create a false alibi for themselves.
Irina Volk added that the suspects have been placed in a temporary detention center and that the materials gathered by police have been handed over to investigative bodies.
