In Russia, a significant pension increase will come into effect from July for retirees who turn 80 in June. According to Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, citizens in this group will receive a doubled fixed payment added to their old-age insurance pension.
Bessarab emphasized that the process will work proactively and automatically for citizens, with no need for any application. The fixed payments of those who reach the age of 80 in June will be doubled starting in July.
The fixed payment, currently set at 9,584.69 rubles, will rise to 19,169.38 rubles after the increase. This will provide a notable improvement in the monthly income of the relevant retirees.
MP Bessarab also noted that no general and mass increase in pensions is planned for July this year. Therefore, the adjustment only covers a specific group of retirees meeting the 80-year age criterion.
