About 10 Chinese and Russian military aircraft briefly entered the Air Defense Identification Zone (KADIZ) in South Korea's eastern and southern sea areas.
According to news agency Yonhap citing the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, the aircraft left the area without violating South Korean airspace. The Seoul administration scrambled fighter jets as a precautionary measure.
What is KADIZ?
The Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) is an area not defined in international law and unilaterally declared by states. Military aircraft entering the zone, which does not cover civilian aircraft, are considered potential threats and may receive warnings.
