Senator Tillis says Putin is 'playing President Trump like a fiddle'
Republican Senator Thom Tillis said Russian President Vladimir Putin is lying and called the idea of a summit with Xi Jinping and Putin absurd.
Republican Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina said Russian President Vladimir Putin is lying and that he "is playing President Trump like a fiddle."
"History is not going to look good on an America that failed to rise up and defend the Western world if Putin actually gets his way," Tillis said. He also called a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Putin "absurd," describing China and Russia as two countries that want to overwhelm the world.
Tillis said he had visited schools in Kharkiv that meet in subway stations because they cannot meet above ground, and had spoken with people who escaped from Crimea, where he said residents are being told that Russia is "denazifying" Ukraine, a country with a Jewish president.
