Russia’s Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova has stepped in to secure the social rights of a veteran wounded in the special military operation in Ukraine. Lantratova announced that she has taken up the case of a war veteran from the city of Tyumen to resolve his housing and financial assistance issues.
In a post on her Max platform channel, the commissioner said the veteran was registered in municipal housing, but in 2019, while he was working out of town, a court revoked his housing right in absentia, citing prolonged absence.
The veteran, who has served in the conflict zone in Ukraine since 2022 and was wounded there, was unable to obtain disability status upon his return due to lacking permanent residence registration, and was deprived of the payments he was entitled to. He also completely lost his accommodation.
Yana Lantratova added that together with Tyumen Region Human Rights Commissioner Oleg Datskikh, they brought the situation under control and made necessary applications to the relevant authorities.
