Russia's Deputy Justice Minister Vadim Balanin stated that cohabitation without a marriage contract is a direct threat to national security.
Balanin made these remarks during a session titled "Strong Family as a Value-Oriented Direction in Family Law" at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. "We are currently facing a phenomenon such as cohabitation without marriage, and such trends can be considered a direct threat to our country's security," he said.
Emphasizing that the Ministry of Justice prioritizes protecting the traditional family structure, Balanin said the institution works to strengthen family ties and combat initiatives targeting traditional ideologies. He added that preparations for amendments to the Family Code have been underway for two years.
