A proposal to raise the youth age limit is not currently on the agenda in the Russian State Duma. A committee official announced that the issue was not discussed.
State Duma Youth Policy Committee First Deputy Chairman Mikhail Kiselev said at a session in Tomsk, "As for the age issue, let's keep working. This topic is not on the agenda in the State Duma or the Youth Policy Committee."
Kiselev's statement came after a proposal by Gennady Onishchenko, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Vice President of the Russian Academy of Education. In an interview with RIA Novosti, Onishchenko had said that people now maintain their capacity for work and high activity for longer, and that the youth age in Russia should be raised to 40.
Mikhail Kiselev also emphasized that inclusive tourism is an important issue. According to the deputy, tourist routes in Russia should be accessible to every young person.
In this context, a regional educational intensive program is being held in the Tomsk region on July 13-16 as part of Rosmolodezh's "More than a Journey" program and the "Youth and Children" national project. This program will serve as a starting point for the preparation of a unified concept for the development of youth tourism in the Russian Federation until 2035.
