New transport rules announced by Russia’s Ministry of Transport will enter into force on September 1. The regulation covers trains, air travel and other forms of transport, introducing changes to ticket procedures, alterations to travel conditions and services provided to passengers with disabilities.
Train tickets and changes to travel conditions
Commuter train tickets will be eligible for refunds online. This means passengers will not need to visit a ticket office to request a refund.
On long-distance trains, passengers must be informed of any changes to the travel schedule or other conditions of the journey.
Priority for passengers who use wheelchairs
Passengers who use wheelchairs will receive priority for seats reserved for people who need mobility assistance because of their health condition.
The new rules will also establish the conditions for services provided to passengers with disabilities at airports and on aircraft. In addition to physical accessibility measures, they will regulate assistance, the clear organization of support and the provision of services at every stage of the journey.
Discounted travel eligibility to be verified through Max
Eligibility for discounted travel on public transport may be verified through the Max messaging app. The regulation aims to simplify checks of eligibility for discounted transport.
