Estonia’s Internal Security Service (KAPO) described the fire at the facility of military robot manufacturer Milrem Robotics, which supplies unmanned ground vehicles to Ukraine, as an act of arson linked to Russia. The fire broke out on August 15.
KAPO argued that the method used in the incident resembled other acts of sabotage said to have been carried out on behalf of Russia in Europe. According to the agency, the aim of such activities is to weaken support for Ukraine.

The Estonian agency did not make the evidence related to the incident public, citing the confidentiality of security services. KAPO said the incident showed that industrial organizations needed to maintain strong physical and cybersecurity measures.
Peskov calls accusation baseless
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov rejected the Tallinn administration’s accusations over the fire. Peskov described Estonia’s statements as untrue, baseless and made without due consideration, and said the claims had no connection to reality.

Peskov said the Kremlin would therefore not take the statements seriously.
Germany had also held Russia responsible
In recent years, accusations that Russian security services were behind acts of sabotage across Europe have increased. Germany also said that Russia was behind an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport in August of the same month.

Following the statement, the Berlin administration ordered the closure of the Russian consulate in Bonn and the Russian cultural center in Berlin.
