Kirill Dmitriev, Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy, held talks with US officials in Washington on ending the war in Ukraine. The discussions also addressed possible US-Russia energy initiatives that could be considered after the war.
A US official said the talks with Dmitriev were constructive.

Meetings with the Treasury and Energy departments
Dmitriev's schedule in Washington included meetings with representatives of the US Treasury Department and the Department of Energy. The visit was held to continue talks aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine.

Dmitriev is also the head of Russia's RDIF sovereign wealth fund.
After Trump-Zelenskyy meeting
The visit to Washington followed a meeting last week in New York between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy said the meeting addressed a possible ceasefire option targeting energy-related sites.

Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner also met with Putin in Moscow earlier this month.
Dmitriev's talks in Washington, in his capacity as head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), followed his meetings in New York with US President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. The meetings also addressed economic cooperation between the two countries.
