A Russian Tu-95 strategic bomber crashed while conducting a routine training flight in the Amur region. Russia’s Defense Ministry said six crew members were killed in the accident.

The crash occurred in an area far from residential settlements. One of the crew members survived and was taken to a hospital.
Officials said the Tu-95 was not carrying weapons at the time of the accident. Air force personnel were sent to the crash site to conduct an investigation.

The cause of the crash has not yet been announced. Unverified claims suggested that the aircraft’s engine may have caught fire before an explosion occurred.

The Tu-95 was based at Ukrainka Air Base, one of Russia’s long-range air force bases. The aircraft crashed near the village of Krasnoyarovo, 30 kilometers north of Ukrainka.
Footage from the crash site shows flames rising over the area where the aircraft came down during the night. Early reports had identified the aircraft as a Tu-154, but official statements confirmed it was a Tu-95 strategic bomber.
